The next strike day is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27. Major transport hubs across the UK will have significantly reduced services, with the public being warned to only travel by train if their journey is essential. A reduced service will also be in place on Thursday 28 July with some trains starting later than normal.
Which trains operate on strike days?
Avanti West Coast
Avanti West Coast will announce their revised schedule as soon as possible and will provide more information on this as soon as it is announced.

A reduced service will run from 7:30am. to 6:30 p.m., resulting in less than a third of normal service levels. Two trains an hour will run from London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness via Laindon, with the same number of trains running from London to Pitsea via Rainham. No trains will run through Ockendon or Chafford Hundred.
Caledonian Sleeper
Although Caledonian Sleeper staff are not participating in the strike itself, the action will still affect business. As a result, all flights scheduled for Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 July are cancelled.
Chiltern Railways
Chiltern advises customers that they will be running an extremely limited service, with no replacement bus service. As a result, only one train per hour will run from London Marylebone to Oxford Parkway, Banbury, Aylesbury and between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham respectively. The service will run from 08:00 to 17:00, with no trains north of Banbury.
Crosscountry
CrossCountry says it will run a very limited service, warning that customers should only travel where necessary. On July 27, there are no services northbound to Birmingham New Street from Southampton until 8.10am. and there are no services from Birmingham New Street to Southampton after 15:04. There is a greatly reduced service between Plymouth-Bristol-Birmingham-Edinburgh on 27 July and disruption to all journeys across the country on 28 July. Services between Birmingham and Leicester are reduced slightly on 27 July.
East Midlands Railway
Only one train per hour will run Nottingham-London and Sheffield-London. Away from the capital, just one train an hour will run from Nottingham to Derby and Leicester respectively. There will also be one train per hour between Derby and Matlock. A reduced route will also be operated on Thursday 28 July with routes starting at 7am. and interruption throughout the day.
Elizabeth Lane
London’s fledgling rail service will be affected by the strikes, with only two trains an hour running from London Paddington to Reading and Heathrow respectively. In the east of the capital, a reduced route will be run before 5pm. 12 trains will run every hour from Paddington to Abbey Wood before this number drops to six after 5pm. Only two trains will run every hour between 7:30 A.M. and 5:30 p.m. from London Liverpool Street to Shenfield.
Gatwick Express
All Gatwick Express trains are canceled on Wednesday 27 July.
Grand Central
Only three trains will run between London and Sunderland on July 27, with all services starting and ending at Northallerton. On the west side, there will again be only three trains running, with services starting and ending at Wakefield Kirkgate. The only stop on these services will be Doncaster.
Great North
Two trains an hour will run between London Bridge and Brighton on July 27 on the Great Northern and Thameslink lines. This will also apply to journeys from London Bridge to Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges. From London St Pancras International, two trains per hour will run to Bedford and Luton. One train per hour will run between London King’s Cross and Ely and there will be an additional train between Cambridge and Ely once an hour. There will also be one train per hour running between King’s Cross and Cambridge, with two per hour for journeys from King’s Cross to Peterborough, Welywn Garden City and Stevenage via Hertford North. On July 28 trains will start from 7:00 am. and will run Sunday routes.
Great Western Rail
Major disruption will occur on Great Western Rail, with no services running in Cornwall, Devon, South Wales or the Wessex Main Line on Wednesday 27 July.
Greater Anglia
A significantly reduced service will only run between London Liverpool Street and Norwich, Colchester, Southend Victoria and Cambridge. The Stansted Express will run, but also with a reduced route for part of the day.
Heathrow Express
On July 27, it will be open half an hour reduced from 7:30 am. until 18:30.
Hull Trains
Services will only run between Doncaster and London Kings Cross between 7.30am. and 6:30 p.m.
Island Line
A normal service will be performed as there is no strike action.
LNER
The LNER will operate a reduced service of two trains per hour between Edinburgh and London and one train per hour between Leeds and London.
London North Western Railway
A limited service will only run between Crewe – Birmingham New Street and London Euston – Birmingham New Street between 7.30am. and 6:30 p.m.
London Underground
There will be considerable disruption in the London Underground. On July 27, there will be no service between Romford and Upminster, Barking and Barking Riverside, Surrey Quays and New Cross. and Kilburn High Road and Euston. There will be no service between Camden Road and Stratford until 12:00pm. and no service between Sydenham and Crystal Palace until 10:00am. There will be minimal service on July 28, with normal service restored around midday, and no service on July 30.
Lumo
Only two trains leave Stevenage traveling north on July 26, with just one departure on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 at 12.41pm. There is a reduced service from King’s Cross, Morpeth, Newcastle and Edinburgh on 26, 27 and 28 July.
Merseyrail
On July 27, Merseyrail will be affected by staff shortages, running an hourly service calling at selected stations only between 7.30am. and 6.30 p.m. There will be no trains from Chester and Ellesmere Port and no services on the Hunts Cross line.
North
On July 27, there is little disruption between Darlington and Saltburn. There is disruption between the Liverpool and Alderley Edge services and on the York-Leeds route, no trains will depart from or arrive at Ulleskelf and Church Fenton. Severe disruptions exist on the route between Ilkley and Leeds or Bradford Forster Square, as well as on the route from Skipton to Leeds. There is minimal disruption on the Sheffield-Leeds line, with regular trains from Leeds to Sheffield starting at 7.48am. as well as hourly trains between Leeds and Bradford Forster Square. No other services will be performed.
ScotRail
ScotRail will run a very limited service on July 27 between 7.30am and 6.30 p.m., with two trains per hour between Edinburgh and Glasgow via Falkirk High. two trains an hour between Edinburgh and Bathgate. two per hour between Glasgow and Hamilton/Larkhall. and two an hour for Glasgow-Lanark. There will be one train per hour between Edinburgh and Glasgow via Shotts.
South Western Railway
Some services on 27 July will operate severely limited services between 7:15am. and 6:30 p.m., with the rest of the network closed. Running trains are expected to be very busy. There are two trains per hour in both directions between London Waterloo and Southampton Central, as well as two per hour between London Waterloo and Basingstoke. There will be four trains per hour in both directions between London Waterloo and Woking and four per hour between London Waterloo and Windsor, also in both directions.
Southeastern
On July 27, travelers are being warned to expect severe disruption, with only 44 of the 180 stations open and no train replacement bus services operating. The last trains back to London will also run much earlier than usual and passengers may also not be able to board trains running a limited service, especially at Ashford and Ebbsfleet. On 28 July, there will be no services before 7.00am. and there will be no service on July 30.
Southern
On July 27, two trains per hour will run between London Victoria and Brighton. London Bridge and Brighton? London Bridge and Gatwick Airport; and between London Bridge and Three Bridges. There will also be a limited service between London Victoria and Sutton, Epsom Downs and West Croydon. On July 28, the routes will start from 7.00 am and will operate on Sunday.
TransPennine Express
A very limited service will run on July 27, with just five departures each from Preston to Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport throughout the day. There are also holidays on the route between Manchester Piccadilly and York, as well as on the Newcastle-Edinburgh route. There is also a limited service between Cleethorpes and Sheffield.
Transport for Wales
On July 27, there will be a reduced service between Cardiff Central and Treherbert, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney, and an hourly bus service from Cardiff to Newport from 7.30am. to 6:30 p.m. No other services will be performed.
West Midlands Railway
A limited service will run on July 27 between 7.30am. and 6.00 p.m., with one train per hour between Lichfield Trent Valley and Redditch. one train per hour between Lichfield Trent Valley and Bromsgrove in each direction, while from 5.00pm, departures from Lichfield Trent Valley will only run as far as New Street, Birmingham. Additional morning services will run between Birmingham New Street–Redditch and Birmingham New Street–Lichfield Trent Valley. There will be one train each way between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street, calling at all local stations, and one train per hour each way between Birmingham New Street and Crewe.
