The family of one of the two women killed in Chilliwack, BC, last week says they will never allow a killer to dim her bright light or destroy the lives of her young boys. Police say 43-year-old Amber Culley and 49-year-old Mimi Cates were shot last Thursday and a man was treated for non-life threatening injuries. A manhunt was launched for the suspect, 50-year-old Eric Shestalo, and police say his body was found in nearby Bridal Falls on Monday. According to police, according to preliminary findings, he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They say the suspect and victims knew each other. Culley’s family says in a statement that her children were her world and will be dearly missed. “He was the most loving, generous, compassionate and brave person we have ever known,” they say. Shestalo was described as armed and dangerous when a search for a suspect began last week. RCMP Deputy Cmdr. Dwayne McDonald says “significant police resources” were involved in the manhunt.
