Pope Francis waved to hundreds of people as he was pushed in a wheelchair along a path on the shores of Lac Ste. Anna. Organizers of the event say it followed in the footsteps of those who make the annual pilgrimage to the site believed to have healing powers. Francis blessed the lake and then sat in silence looking out at the water. Pope Francis spent several minutes sprinkling blessed water from Lac Ste. Anna on people lined up at the annual pilgrimage site. Many in the crowd stretched their arms over a fence as he sprayed water in their direction. The pontiff used a traditional wooden tool with a brush on the end and dipped it into a bowl of water as he was pushed in a wheelchair. — The Canadian Press
