Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the 5100 block of San Feliciano Drive in Woodland Hills to reports of a hit and run around 5:47 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found a man on the sidewalk in a pool of blood.
“It’s horrible,” a neighbor told CBSLA on Tuesday. “It’s horrible. Who could stab him at five in the morning?”
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics told officers the victim had multiple stab wounds to his back. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the victim was stabbed in the middle of the street and then walked to the sidewalk and collapsed.
The victim is described as a 41-year-old man from Woodland Hills. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
Detectives were reviewing surveillance video Tuesday afternoon and canvassing the area for any witnesses.
Detectives have found no evidence that this incident is related to a traffic collision.
