The fugitive was found after RCMP received a tip on July 13 that a person wanted in the United States was in the southeastern BC city, about 50 kilometers northwest of the Eastport-Kingsgate U.S. border.
Louis Edward Flood has been wanted since 2001 after he disappeared while on parole. He appeared on the TV show America’s Most Wanted in 2011.
Flood was convicted in 1997 of lewd conduct with a child under 16 and sexual abuse of a child under 16 in Idaho. He was out on parole after serving three years of his 18-year sentence when he disappeared.
According to a Creston RCMP press release, local Const. Dave Bickle contacted the United States Marshals Service, Idaho State Corrections and the Idaho State Police based on information they received about Flood.
“We were contacted immediately after my initial request and they provided me with Flood’s records from 2001,” he said in the written statement. “They described how he was not complying with his parole and issued a warrant for his arrest.”
Bickle was able to confirm Flood’s identity using a 2000 photo provided by US law enforcement.
The Canadian constable contacted the Canada Border Services Agency to issue a removal warrant for Flood’s return to the US Flood was referred by Canada Border Services to the Okanagan Correctional Center on July 21.
Four days later, Flood was sent to the United States where the US Marshall Service Fugitive Unit took custody of him. The RCMP release says Idaho State officials say Flood will serve the remaining 13 years of his prison sentence after he returns to the U.S.
“Everybody came together to take Louis Flood into custody,” said Creston RCMP Cpl. Evan Diachok in traffic.
