Some of you will be familiar with this product, but for those of you who don’t, it’s basically a frame for your smartphone that includes traditional controls. In this case, the product is PlayStation-approved, so you get the console’s virtual face buttons and a color scheme that fits well with the DualSense’s design ethos. “Sleek colors, materials and finishes are all inspired by the design of the PS5 DualSense wireless controller, including transparent face buttons and a visually distinctive floating look,” the press release notes. He also notes that the PS Remote Play app has recently been updated to even let you wake up your console no matter what. In addition, Backbone has its own app that recommends content from a variety of different platforms, including Apple Arcade. This will be bundled with the PlayStation app, incorporating “an exclusive line-up of new releases and updates” directly from Sony. From here you’ll even be able to download and install games remotely, ready to play in the PS Remote Play app. Now obviously none of this replaces the native game, as your Remote Play experience will depend heavily on your connection. But for those slower-paced visual novels, having all the traditional PlayStation imports available makes it a viable portable gaming option – and, of course, they’ll all work with mobile games that support controllers, too. Another thing worth noting is that the Backbone One requires no battery or charging: it draws a “negligible” amount of power directly from your phone, so it’s something you can easily throw in your bag without really having to think about it. . . Personally, we think this is a very good idea and we like the aesthetics of this officially licensed PlayStation version. Are you going to check this out at all?
