The crash happened about 50 kilometers west of Edmonton, on Highway 16 at Range Road 33 between Stony Plain and Wabamun Lake. The two occupants of the Toyota — an 89-year-old woman from Wabamun and a 26-year-old man from Spruce Grove — were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. AHS and RCMP said the two women in the Honda were taken to hospital in stable, non-life-threatening condition, and one of them had only minor injuries. One was in the westbound lanes and the other vehicle was seen in the ditch on the side of the freeway.
