A heat warning continues for the Cariboo Chilcotin with daytime highs ranging from 29 to 35C with early morning lows of 14C, until Sunday July 31. The National Collaborating Center for Environmental Health has posted on its website a guide to conducting in-person or remote health screenings during extreme heat events. In Williams Lake, cooling stations are set up during the day for local residents who need respite at the Cariboo Community Church on Oliver Street, in the lobby of the Cariboo Memorial Complex arena, at the Salvation Army during breakfast and lunch, at the Women’s Contact Society and in the Cariboo The Friendship Society keeps its lodge open during the day for clients.
